Holiday Cottage East Coast Scotland Dundee
HMS Discovery, commanded by Captain Vancouver on his great voyage to the Northwest Coast in 1791-95, was the sixth ship in the Royal Navy to bear the name, which dates from 1665. While under construction as a merchant ship in a Thames yard, she was purchased in November 1789 by the Admiralty, which was looking for a ship suitable "for surveying in Remote Parts." Launched and named in December, she was moved to Deptford Dockyard for outfitting, now berthed in Dundee.

If visiting Dundee make sure you meet up with desperate Dan in the Dundee shopping Centrer. He is the wildwest character from the comic the Dandy. He needs to use a blowtorch to shave, so beware.
